Review by John Flett and Heather Wentworth

This beautiful club right in the heart of London was where we had the enjoyment of spending four nights last July.

This is a reciprocal club of the Brisbane Club, and a wonderful benefit which we thoroughly enjoyed and decided to share some of the experience with fellow members.

Sumptuously decorated and amazingly quiet despite being in Belgravia, the welcome and setting is complemented y a hearty full Scottish breakfast included in the accommodation tariff.

Being mildly biased, we believe that the Brisbane Club chefs have the edge although the beef wellington was sensational and a Thursday evening special, you need to ensure you book as once that has gone its gone!

The wait staff were excellent and let slip they have regular visitors from Australia including a certain gentlemen called John Howard and his wife Jeanette… I wonder who they might be!

Alex out attentive waiter recommended a very fine wine for us – all the way from Clare Valley! We liked Alex and his choice of wine.

We booked and paid extra for the Tarleton Suite which we felt was well worth it. The bath was that big – just amazing and the internet and all facilities were simply first class.

The location is so central that it allowed us to fit much more in to our trip than if we had been in the suburbs. In the short space of time we were there we walked to Buckingham Palace, Princess Diana Memorial Walk, Saatchi Gallery, London Eye, Houses of Parliament and Downing Street, Changing of the Guards, Harrods as well as the Victoria and Albert Gallery where you can spend a week and still not see it all.

As I have a hangup about Heathrow, we arrived by train which was excellent and didn’t bother with an Oyster card which is only really useful if you use the underground a lot. we found the train to Gatwick very fast and good and a much easier airport to navigate than Heathrow. If you would like to know more, please catch up with us at the Club.
